It has been more than a month and a half since the students of Sala Baï returned home following the temporary closure of schools decreed on 9 March by the Cambodian Prime Minister due to the Covid 19 health crisis. Sala Baï’s teaching team has adapted to this new situation by being creative. Our teachers have even launched a Youtube channel so that they can give their lessons remotely.

This is enabling students to continue their studies despite these exceptional circumstances. All of the sections are mobilised – Housekeeping, Front Office, Beauty Therapy, Cooking and Restaurant, without forgetting English. For the Cooking course, for example, videos are posted regularly and present numerous recipes as well as associations between dishes and sauces.

All trainers regularly give their students exercises. Ninety-five per cent of students are following the online courses and sending work to their teachers. Recently, the Front Office students demonstrated their skills with a situational exercise on the reception of guests in a hotel. The Restaurant students, meanwhile, practiced serving dummy diners from their homes. The Sala Baï students are continuing their distance learning very seriously and are showing great perseverance. A fine example of motivation and willpower!
