The 2025–2028 Strategic Plan is the result of a collaborative effort between APLC and Sala Baï employees and board members, with each contributor providing their specific expertise. The plan is also informed by the findings of two detailed studies:
- An impact study conducted by Rapid Universal, focusing on Sala Baï alumni and their families.
- A sector study conducted by a volunteer from EHLSmile (Ecole hôtelière de Lausanne alumni association), regarding hospitality industry trends and related training needs.
The 2025–2028 plan was formally approved by the Board Members in July 2025.
The primary objective of this plan is to further increase APLC’s impact in the fight against poverty and human trafficking, with a continued priority on supporting women.
The plan is structured around three main pillars:
- Continue to provide high-quality vocational training in the hospitality sector by launching a two-year program, designed to fast-track students into middle management positions.
- Reduce rural poverty by increasing income from ecotourism. This will be achieved by upskilling rural communities in hospitality, marketing, and English, and by establishing a replicable ecotourism model. APLC aims to operate in remote rural areas where poverty rates are approximately 23%.
- Ensure the long-term sustainability of the Sala Baï program by increasing financial autonomy. This will be achieved through the development of commercial activities, including an extension of the hotel, evening and weekend restaurant openings, and the sale of English language courses for the hospitality industry, as well as the progressive transfer of responsibilities to Cambodian staff.
